The Low Calorie Diet
At PascualMD we do not adhere to a 500 calorie a day diet. In fact, due to safety concerns inherent with severe calorie restriction our preferred method is a diet which focuses on the restriction of high glycemic carbohydrates. A low glycemic index diet avoids spikes of glucose or sugar in your blood stream. When sugar is available for fuel in your bloodstream your body will utilize the available sugar or glucose first before it uses your fat reserves. If you continually eat high glycemic index foods your body will not burn the fat reserves for fuel. Therefore, the preferred diet is a meal plan which avoids high glycemic carbohydrates.
